Open Forum. Dr. Vincent Carret: "Emergency services must refocus on their essential missions."
It's over, emergency services no longer have the means to do everything and take on everything! How many alerts, open letters, warnings and calls for help, too often left unanswered? Emergency services can no longer be the adjustment variable of the health system and take on the resignations, renunciations, excesses and consequences of health policies for comfort and ease, and continue to be pushed into making mistakes so as to no longer be able to control the unreasonable and irresponsible flows imposed on them.
Guaranteeing the safety of care in our territories
No one wants to relive the dramas experienced in France's emergency services in recent months in the climate of tension, pressure and permanent crises created by thirty years of health policies focused to the extreme on emergency services and teams alone, Samu and Centre 15, and for lack of any other solution.
Because summer in our Var department, the largest tourist department in France, is a time of dread, risk, fear, and all sorts of dangers for all our teams, we are calling on all our supervisory bodies, including our ARS [Regional Health Agencies, Editor's note] and ministries, to ensure, through their decisions and action plans on the ground, organization, and coordination of care between all sectors, public and private, the safety of care in our territories.
We can no longer live with the situations of excess and helplessness that are imposed on us, nor can we continue to be constantly faced with a fait accompli, due to the lack of anticipation and preparation for this period for which we have been constantly warning and alerting every year. This year, 2025, sees this level of alert reach yet another level.
May these alerts relayed to the highest level of the state, to our President of the Republic, our Prime Minister, to all the elected representatives of the Var, and recently to Mrs. Yaël Braun-Pivet, President of the National Assembly on a trip to Toulon, be associated with the support of the Prefect of the Var, and of the Public Prosecutor as a last resort, so that new human tragedies do not have to be experienced by the families and our healthcare teams.
Deep feeling of loneliness
Abandoned for too long and faced with a profound sense of loneliness in the face of these situations, all emergency and hospital teams call on everyone to be at our side, and for collective and shared responsibility in the interest of all our populations. In the hope of rallying as many stakeholders as possible for the times to come and the defense of these essential public service missions,
